NEWBURY — Border to Boston Trail advances: North and South segments moving forward. The Border to Boston Trail Committee discussed progress on two major segments, with Newbury close to signing a contract with Stantec for the South trail while engineering firm Kittelson conducts a feasibility study on the North trail. Georgetown has already signed its Stantec contract and is advancing its portion of the South trail.

Both segments will include mile markers every tenth of a mile, kiosks, and interpretive signs. The Coastal Trails Coalition will serve as an earmarked bank account for the committee, avoiding the need to form a separate nonprofit. A public meeting is planned for late September for the North segment.

The committee is pursuing funding through Essex Heritage grants.
