Border to Boston Trail Committee approves prior minutes, updates trail segments

Border to Boston Trail Committee · Meeting of February 24, 2026

NEWBURY — Border to Boston Trail Committee approves prior meeting minutes and hears segment updates. The Newbury South trail, Georgetown to Byfield, remains paused pending resolution of invoices and coordination issues; the town requested approximately $455,000 from MassTrails on February 2 for right-of-way and engineering tasks, with results expected by summer. The Newbury North segment, Byfield to Newburyport, awaits final revised cost estimates from consultant Kittelson and subcontractor Weston and Sampson for delivery to MassDOT within a week.

Committee members will report progress at the May 5 town meeting and attend a regional quarterly meeting March 16.
