NEWBURY — Border to Boston Trail Committee halts design progress on south segment. The committee, led by Co-Chair Reagan with members David Broll, Sean McElroy, and Jim Dooling, approved a Department of Conservation and Resources grant application due February 2 to fund legal counsel for right-of-way title reviews. Engineer Stantec's original contract did not cover wetlands delineation in Georgetown or a hydrologic report for a bridge crossing near Byfield, halting the 75 percent design milestone.
Newbury will continue advancing right-of-way work at Byfield center and seek Chapter 90 funding through discussions with Representative Kassner while resolving contractual scope issues.
