Council on Aging pursues senior center strategy through Select Board

NEWBURY — Council on Aging regroups after senior center study narrowly fails. A $250,000 warrant for senior center feasibility study was defeated by 10 votes at Town Meeting despite unanimous Select Board support and Finance Committee opposition. Chair Damon Jespersen plans to meet with the Select Board to discuss a combined building approach with Town Hall, with Select Board Chair Bill DiMaio committing to focus on COA needs.
The council also noted that member Josephine Antico resigned for personal reasons and member terms for Susan Grillo and Chris Howe are not being renewed.
