NEWBURY — The Newbury Historical Commission discussed filling its seventh open seat, considering a rotating Triton student member for one-year appointments. Member Dana Packer volunteered to request the Select Board place the Lower Green Historic District on their agenda; the town has not yet received Massachusetts Historical Commission notification. Treasurer Lon Hachmeister reported the commission opened a new $3,500 special article fund and acquired a stamp for approving requests.
Vice-Chairperson Rebecca Fuller reported the 1635 website redesign continues. The Schoolhouse renovation is complete with new roof, windows, and exterior paint, and the commission awaits a new teacher and students. Efforts to relocate the witch's stone on Coleman Road remain ongoing.
