Historical Commission requests special funds recovery at spring town meeting

Newbury Historical Commission seeks $3,456.67 recovery through spring town meeting. Treasurer Lon Hachmeister led the commission's unanimous motion to formally request the return of special funds transferred to general town funds, with gift fund holdings at $2,812.65 and general operating funds at $900 for the fiscal year. The Massachusetts Historical Commission approved the first draft of the Lower Green local historic district study, which will advance to public meetings and a town meeting vote.

The commission also discussed potential uses for remaining 2026 funds and ongoing schoolhouse maintenance projects in advance of the nation's 250th anniversary.
