Historical Commission schedules demolition-delay hearing for 25 High Rd
Historical Commission · Meeting of May 14, 2026
Newbury Historical Commission moves forward with demolition-delay hearing on 25 High Rd. The commission scheduled the public hearing for June 17 after the Building Inspector rejected the commission's letter of incomplete information; notices will be posted June 3 and June 10. Per the town Demolition Delay Bylaw, the commission must vote within 14 days of the hearing to determine if the building merits preferential preservation.
The commission also unanimously approved prior meeting minutes and accepted a Treasurer's Report showing the Gift Fund at $2,812.65 and a $3,500 special-account restoration from the May 2026 Town Meeting. Schoolhouse work continues with authorization for mannequin replacement, period-clothing acquisition, and alarm-system updates.
