Lower Green Historic District Study Committee holds final public hearing

NEWBURY — Study committee completes four-year Lower Green historic district review for Town Meeting. The committee, chaired by Robin Etheridge and including Vice Chair Joy Michaud and member Lon Hachmeister, held a public hearing Monday to gather resident feedback on its draft report before May 5 Town Meeting consideration. The study committee, appointed by the Selectboard in 2022 following a citizen petition, submitted its report to the Massachusetts Historical Commission in January 2026 with positive feedback.
Public commenters, including Selectboard Chair Bill DiMaio and residents from High Road and Cottage Road, raised questions about signage, solar panels, accessory dwelling units, and privacy fences within the proposed district.
