Newbury Select Board approves Church Street traffic modification

Select Board · Meeting of May 26, 2026

Newbury Select Board unanimously approves a traffic modification plan for the Church Street intersection. The Board adopted a T-off configuration following recommendations from the Merrimack Valley Planning Commission to address traffic and safety concerns from a proposed development at 15 Central Street; Police Chief Patricia Fisher and the Department of Public Works Director both supported the plan, and developers agreed to fund the roadway modifications. The Board reorganized after recent elections, retaining William DiMaio as Chair, Alicia Greco as Vice Chair, and Leslie Matthews as Clerk.

The Board rejected a motion to increase one-day liquor license fees to $100, voting unanimously 0-5.
