Newbury Select Board declares snow and ice emergency amid budget strain
Select Board · Meeting of February 24, 2026
Newbury Select Board votes to declare snow and ice emergency with 129,000 dollar deficit. The board unanimously approved the emergency authorization as the town exhausts its winter budget following the 10th plowable storm of the season. Chair William DiMaio led the board in approving two business license renewals for Outdoor Dog Training & Trails and Roots to Wings, and unanimously referring a Zoning Bylaw amendment to the Planning Board.
Town Administrator Tracy Blais projected that fiscal year 2027 will require a 500,000 dollar override, driven by declining growth, increased costs, and health insurance expenses exceeding 180,000 dollars.
