Open Space Committee examines conservation mapping for land protection

Open Space Committee · Meeting of April 7, 2026

Newbury Open Space Committee incorporates conservation mapping into its land protection plan. The Essex County Greenbelt Association presented prioritization maps across five conservation categories: Natural Resilience, Flood Mitigation, Habitat, Drinking Water, and Agriculture, targeting parcels of five acres or greater. Committee members discussed how the mapping can inform Newbury's Open Space and Recreation Plan update.

Committee members were assigned to complete their plan edits by April 21.
