Planning Board defers Central Street subdivision after safety concerns

Planning Board · Meeting of February 18, 2026

NEWBURY — Planning Board defers two-lot subdivision decision after neighbor objections. The board voted unanimously to continue the public hearing on the definitive subdivision application at 15 Central Street, filed by Michael Becker of 15 Central Byfield, LLC, to March 18 after multiple abutters raised safety concerns about the proposed new driveway, citing sightlines and grade hazards. In related action, the board unanimously approved a $13,998 partial release from the Cypress Hollow Subdivision security account at 100 High Road for Tom Neve, leaving approximately $55,000 in the bond.

The board also unanimously advanced a proposed zoning amendment to increase the Zoning Board of Appeals from three to five members, scheduling a public hearing for March 18 pending the Select Board's referral.
