Select Board approves Fire Chief's West Newbury employment

NEWBURY — Select Board approves Fire Chief's outside employment with West Newbury. Fire Chief David Evans received unanimous Board approval to continue his call-employment as Deputy Fire Chief and volunteer member of the West Newbury Board of Fire Engineers, effective July 1. Town Counsel Lisa Mead explained that Article 2 of his new Newbury contract, added per counsel advice, explicitly permits such arrangements with Board approval.
The Board also unanimously approved public property use requests from the Byfield Newbury Baseball Softball League and accepted $325 in donations for the Council on Aging.
