NEWBURY — Select Board delegates Open Meeting Law complaint to Town Counsel. Town Counsel Alex Castro addressed the Board via Zoom during a closed session to discuss a complaint filed April 22 by Jack Rybicki regarding Clerk Leslie Matthews' alleged deliberate absence from a photo opportunity. The Board clarified that Matthews' absence resulted from a communication failure: she did not receive the text invitation because her cell phone had been destroyed by her dog.
All five members voted unanimously to close the Executive Session and reconvene in Open Session to delegate the matter to Town Counsel for further handling.
