Study committee finalizes historic district proposal for public hearing
Local Historic District Study Committee · Meeting of April 10, 2026
NEWBURY — The Local Historic District Study Committee finalized amendments to its study report ahead of a scheduled public hearing on a proposed historic district. Secretary Elizabeth Paliga updated the LHD boundary map and Evergreen Cemetery description following town counsel's review of the accompanying by-law, which specified that the Local Historic District Commission would comprise five members. Paliga cautioned that any substantive changes emerging from the public hearing could delay the proposal's inclusion on this year's town meeting warrant.
Historic New England Site Manager Sheila Spaulding publicly voiced support for the committee's efforts.
