Newbury Library Approves Minutes, Shifts Meeting Date
Library Board · Meeting of September 15, 2026
Newbury library trustees finalize 100th anniversary plans for Oct. 17, moving next meeting to Oct. 21. Trustees Alexander Burke, Patty Olson, Melissa Mashburn and Dick Becerri joined Library Director Aila Colburn, who reported a new three-unit heating system now installed to replace an aging boiler and a planned protective film for the library's sunlit skylight to curb book damage. Staff member Catherine was awarded a $2,500 Mass Cultural Council grant for spring programming, and the library logged 17 new members in August.
"I'm glad I lost that vote," one trustee said of an old vote against installing the skylight glass. A roughly $70 cake is ordered for the Oct. 17 celebration, which coincides with the Friends of the Library's annual harvest festival.
