Newbury Recreation Commission Approves Town Day Beer Truck, Tents
Recreation Commission · Meeting of July 7, 2026
Newbury Recreation Commission approves Town Day beer truck, reorganizes leadership. Organizer Barb Luby secured sign-off for a beer truck, tents and a covered stage for Newbury Town Day, with setup planned for Friday night around the town's car show. Members appropriated $400 for two bocce ball sets after voiding an earlier $200 motion, and named John Regan vice chair, Michael Crouch clerk, Mary Anastasia treasurer, and incoming student Bryce Porter as high school representative.
The commission also flagged that its posted governing guidelines are "outdated by like 10 minutes," specifying one-year terms it hasn't followed in years, with a rewrite due for an August vote. Separately, members learned the town cannot fix broken lights at the Little League field because the fixtures, though sited on town land, are owned by the youth baseball association, which raises $20,000 to $30,000 annually for field upkeep.
